The big, proud fish

Some little fish and a big fish were swimming near each other in the sea. The big fish always bothered the little fish. He looked down at the other fish and laughed. "Look at me, aren't you jealous of my big, beautiful appearance? Ha, ha, ha!" One day, a fisherman showed up and spread a net. A few days later, the fisherman drew up the net. At that moment, the little fish were able to swim through the net, but the big proud fish was caught. The big fish said to the little fish that escaped, "Hey, children, I'm really sorry for looking down at you and being so proud of myself."
자랑쟁이 큰 물고기 어느 가까운 바다에 큰 물고기 한 마리와 작은 물고기들이 함께 살고 있었어요. 그런데 이 큰 물고기는 항상 작은 물고기들을 괴롭히고, 남을 무시하고 또 자기 자신을 자랑하며 살았어요. “너희들은 나의 이 크고 아름다운 자태가 부럽지 않느냐? 하하” 그러던 어느 날 이들이 사는 바다에 어부들이 찾아와서는 그물을 치기 시작했어요. 그리고 며칠 뒤 어부들은 그물을 끌어올렸죠. 그때 작은 물고기들은 이리저리 그물 사이로 빠져서 도망칠 수가 있었지요. 하지만, 항상 자신의 모습을 자랑하던 큰 물고기는 그물에 걸려 움직일 수 조차도 없었어요. 그물에 걸린 큰 물고기는 그물 밖에 있는 작은 물고기들을 보며 이렇게 말했죠.“얘들아, 내가 그동안 왜 너희들을 무시하고 내 모습을 자랑만 해왔는지 후회가 돼. 흑흑.”
