The Hunter and the Quail

A hunter lived by catching birds. One day, he caught a quail in a trap. The quail looked sadly at the hunter and said, "Please sir, please let me go this time, if you give me my freedom, I'll attract my friends to go into your trap, I promise." The hunter answered, "Oh, really? If you would do that, I certainly can't let you go, because betraying friends is the worst thing in the world." 

사냥꾼과 메추라기 

어느 사냥꾼이 숲속에 그물을 놓아 새를 잡고 살았어요. 그러던 어느 날 그물을 걷어 메추라기를 붙잡았어요. 메추라기는 사냥꾼을 바라보며 슬픈 목소리로 이렇게 말했어요. “사냥꾼 나리, 한번만 저를 놓아주세요. 그렇게만 해주신다면 제가 저의 친구들을 유인해서 나리의 그물에 걸리도록 할게요. 꼭 약속드릴게요! 한번만 살려주세요.” 그러자 사냥꾼은 대답했어요. “오호라, 그래? 그럼 더더욱 널 살려줄 수가 없겠다. 너처럼 자신이 살기위해 친구들을 배반하는 녀석은 아무리 가혹한 최후라도 어쩔 수 없지!”​
